As a new or returning graduate student you’re here to specialize in a field that matters to you. Perhaps CCM’s award-winning music and theater programs caught your eye, or you’re looking to publish your PhD dissertation. The theme of grad school is to advance your skillset in a discipline or subdiscipline. Regardless of your nationality, ethnicity, or academic focus, it’s this shared pursuit of specialization brings us together. You came to UC for a special experience and, in turn, make the Graduate College a special place.
Welcome to UC’s Graduate College, new and returning students! Let’s get started on what will be an engaging semester and school year. Regardless of when you completed undergrad, congratulations are always in order! The graduate experience can be whatever you envision, be it a fresh start or business as usual. There’s always room to improve your specialty, and the Graduate College specializes in getting you to a higher degree. There are a ton of professional tools and resources available to you. But first, we ought to have fun, right?
Countdown to the Graduate College New Student Welcome & Orientation
Friday, August 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tangeman University Center, 4th Floor
The Graduate College’s new student orientation is not just any old introduction, think of it as a VIP event at a county fair, , you’ll score UC grad swag, explore resource tables, snap a photo with the UC Bearcat, and nibble on breakfast. There will also be tours and breakout sessions to help you feel right at home.
Breakout Sessions
- The Graduate College's UC Graduate Student Panel brings together experienced graduate students to answer your questions about navigating graduate education in TUC 417.
- University of Cincinnati Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will cover mental health services and resources In TUC 400A.
- The UC International Office will present on helping new grad students integrate into U.S. culture in TUC 400B.
- The Bearcat Promise Career Center will discuss grad career exploration, planning, and development in TUC 400C.
- College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Student Services will provide resources for incoming students in TUC 419.
Plus, graduate student ambassadors will be available to answer your burning questions. Spots are limited and registration is required, so don’t miss out! Save your spot today.
Connecting the Graduate Community
Getting involved in a club or connecting with like-minded people is a great way to boost the grad experience! It shouldn’t be only about honing your specialization — it’s about discovering new passions, rekindling old ones, and creating memories that will last beyond your time at UC. Learning Resources
The Learning Commons (LC) is the central academic support hub that offers free assistance for all students across all majors and campuses. The Learning Commons brings faculty together to utilize the best support practices like peer tutoring and one-on-one academic coaching to create a supportive environment for students to succeed.
Accessibility Resources
UC’s Accessibility Resources is available to ensure full and equal access to students with disabilities. If you require accommodation, you can initiate the registration process by completing a new student registration form and submitting any supporting documentation.
