To complete the Preparing Future Faculty certificate, you must take part in the two courses posted below.

Teaching Effectiveness (PD8041) needs to be completed before a Mentoring Agreement will be approved. Students with special circumstances should send a request with rationale to the PFF Director.     

Teaching Effectiveness

Teaching Effectiveness covers the theory and practice of effective, learning-focused teaching at the college level, including how to establish student learning goals, develop a syllabus, use diverse approaches to teaching and assess student learning. All participants will develop an electronic teaching portfolio.

Teaching Effectiveness is offered Fall Semester 2017 on Tuesdays from 2:00PM - 4:50PM. The course code is PD 8041 and is available for registration through Catalyst.

Academic Job Search

This course offers a broad and diverse view of the academic job market, including the different kinds of institutions (from community college to research university) and the implications of those market segments for faculty careers. The course also offers practical insights into and guidance for assessing job openings, applying for jobs and interviewing.
